President Karzai Leaves for Saudi Arabia
President Hamid Karzai left this morning on a visit to Saudi Arabia to perform 'umrah' (minor hajj ritual) and to meet with King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Alongside performing Haj related rituals, the President is scheduled to discuss with the King several issues of mutual interest including the current situation in Afghanistan, the region, Afghan Plan for Reconciliation and Saudi’s help with Afghanistan as well as other issues on tackling problems the Muslim World is facing.
On Thursday after his visit ends in Saudi Arabia, President Karzai would head to Munich, Germany, where he is to attend a Security Conference.
The Munich Conference on Security Policy is held annually to discuss vital issues on international security policy. This year, the Conference holds its 46th summit for three days, with the last day dedicated for talks on Afghanistan.
The President is accompanied on his visit by senior government officials and Jihadi leaders.
