President Karzai Left for Russia for SCO Summit


Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation left this morning for Russia to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, to be held in the city of Yekaterinburg. The President is scheduled to speak in the summit tomorrow.
In the sideline of his two-day visit, the President will also meet his counterparts from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan.
The bilateral discussions would mostly focus on mutual relations, enhanced regional cooperation in the areas of counterterrorism, drugs, economy and regional trade.
The President is accompanied on this trip by Foreign Minister Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Senior National Security Advisor, Dr. Zalmai Rasoul and a number of other senior officials.
