President Karzai meets NATO/Coalition Commander


H.E. President Hamid Karzai Sunday met with General Stanley McChrystal commander of NATO and Coalition Forces in Afghanistan at the Golkhana Palace.
General McChrystal during the meeting said that he was ready to begin his mission in Afghanistan in cooperation and coordination with the Afghan security forces.
Welcoming the new NATO/Coalition commander, President Karzai said, “The most important element of the mission of the new NATO/Coalition forces commander in Afghanistan is to protect civilian population during the anti-terrorism military operations and the Afghan government will fully cooperate with you towards achieving this very important goal.”
General MacChrystal assured President Karzai that he would take practical measures to prevent civilian causalities during counter-insurgency operations.
