President Ghani and Vice-President Pence emphasize collective cooperation

The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and vice-president of the United States Mike Pence talked over a range of issues via a videoconference, Friday evening.

Both sides talked over the commitments which were made for improving the security sector, the four-year security plan, reform plans for combatting corruption, counter-terrorism efforts and regional security.

Vice-President Pence commended the progress made by the Afghan Government. He said that the Afghan Government has had commendable achievements in different areas in addition to shouldering important responsibilities over the past two and a half years.   

He expressed that the people and government of the United States will support and remain as a partner with the people and Government of Afghanistan to achieve peace, stability and development.

President Ghani thanked the people and government of the United States for their continued assistance, describing U.S. as a good partner of Afghanistan.
