National Security Council Meeting Talks 3rd Transition Tranche

May 09, 2012 - A meeting of the National Security Council chaired by President Karzai on Thursday discussed issues and preparations underway for the third phase of the transition of security responsibilities from foreign to Afghan forces.

It was agreed that the final decision for the 3rd Tranche be made in the next meeting of the Security Council and the official launch of the process be announced.

The meeting, among other senior government officials, was also attended by NATO commander, NATO civilian representative and the US Ambassador to Afghanistan.
