President Ghani awarded state medal of Ghazi Mir Masjidi Khan to Maj. Gen. Scott A. Howell the Commanding General of NATO Special Operations Component Command – Afghanistan and state medal of Said Jamalludin Afghan to Chris B. Austin chairman of British Department for International Development-Afghanistan in recognition of their services.
The medals were awarded to them in two separate ceremonies and read out by Asadullah Ghazanfar cultural advisor to the President. The ceremonies were attended by National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, finance minister Eklil Hakimi, head of administrative office of the President Abdul Salaam Rahimi, chief advisor to the President on public relations and strategic affairs Shah Zaman Maiwandi and British Ambassador Dominic Jeremy.
Gen. Howell made positive efforts and demonstrated excellent abilities during his mission here in Afghanistan. Chris Austin has shown his performance and abilities in properly managing and implementing British assistance to Afghanistan.
President Ghani awarded the medals to the two in recognition of their excellent services. He thanked the peoples and governments of the U.S and Britain for their sincere cooperation with Afghanistan.
