Afghan-Norway Strategic Cooperation Agreement Finalized

June 27, 2012 -The agreement on strategic cooperation between Afghanistan and Norway is finalized and ready for signature this September.
 
The strategic partnership was central to the discussions this morning at a meeting between President Karzai and Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr 
Støre, who said it was finalized and ready for signing between the two countries this coming September. 
 
Norwegian Foreign Minister expressed his government and the people of Norway’s condolences over civilian deaths in the recent terrorist attack in Kabul’s lakeside resort.
 
Minister Støre also briefed President Karzai on his recent visit of the province of Faryab, where he said Afghan forces had now gained the capability to take over the responsibility for securing the province on their own.
 
In regards to the upcoming Conference in Japan on Afghanistan, he said his country was all prepared to attend the Tokyo Conference. 
 
President Karzai said Afghanistan was grateful to Norway for all the help it has given to Afghanistan in the past ten years and said Norway “making a partnership with Afghanistan meant commitment to the future support and assistance to this country.”
