President Karzai Denounces Bombing That Killed Laghman’s Director of Women Affairs, Describing It a Cowardly Act

July 14, 2012 - President Hamid Karzai strongly denounced the bombing in Mehterlam, the provincial capital of Laghman that killed Ms. Hanifa Safi, Director of Women Affairs of Laghman province.
According to Laghman’s security officials, Ms. Safi Director of Women Affairs and her husband lost their lives on Friday when a magnetic bomb attached to their vehicle was detonated by terrorists in the provincial capital, Mehterlam. As a result of the explosion, more than ten civilians including her family members sustained injuries.
President Karzai described targeting women an act against Islamic teachings and Afghan culture, calling its perpetrators weak, cowardly and zealless elements.
The President offers his deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Late Ms. Hanifa Safi and wished quick recovery for the wounded.
