12 August, 2012 - President Hamid Karzai strongly denounced the killing of Ms. Shenkai Akakhail, Principal of Ahmad Shah Baba Girls’ High School in Gulshan Bagh area of Balkh province.
According to Balkh Director of Education, at 9:00 pm on Saturday night, Principal Akakhail was shot to death by an unknown gunman in her house at Gulshan Bagh area of Balkh district.
Condemning the act in the strongest possible terms, President Karzai described the crime enmity against Islam and added that Ms. Akakhail devoted her life to education of girls in the country.
President Karzai labeled the perpetrators enemies of sacred religion of Islam, calling Islam a religion that makes education obligatory for both male and female Muslims. The President added, “Only those, who are against development and progress of our beloved country, could commit such a crime”.
The President offers his deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of the late Principal and wishes her the best place in heaven.
