President Karzai Strongly Condemns Ruthless Killings of Civilians Particularly Children in Kunduz and Paktika Provinces

 August 15, 2012 - President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the terrorist activities that killed a number of civilians including children in Kunduz and Paktika provinces.

On Tuesday evening, terrorists detonated a remote-controlled device attached to a motorcycle full of explosives at a market in Dashti Archi district of Kunduz province, killing 10  civilians including children selling food snacks and injuring 21 others.

Separately on the same evening,  when a number of civilians including children were traveling back home after having bought clothes for Eid,  their vehicle hit a roadside bomb planted by terrorists on a public route  in Kharbin area of Yusufkhail district in Paktika province, leaving 4 children dead and another civilian wounded.

Having heard about the tragic incidents, President Karzai who is currently in Saudi Arabia said, “Terrorists ruthlessly killed civilians including children who were breadwinners of their families as well as  targeted other innocent kids who had merrily  bought clothes for Eid.”

The President said, “By ruthlessly targeting innocent people particularly children in Ramadan- the holy month of repentance and forgiveness, terrorists must know that they will definitely face wrath and indignation of Almighty Allah.

The President offers his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, wishes them forbearance and prays for rapid recovery of the wounded.
