President Karzai Meets SAARC’s Secretary General

September 11, 2012- President Hamid Karzai met on Tuesday with Ahmed Salim Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
At the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to SAARC with particular reference to the directives of the 17th SAARC Summit and their follow up.
The Secretary General apprised President Karzai that the SAARC leadership intended to open an office in Afghanistan for better coordination with the Afghan government.
The President described activities by SAARC as helpful in promoting regional cooperation and gave reassurance on Afghan government’s cooperation for further strengthening the organization.
