Cabinet Meeting Strongly Denounces NATO Airstrike in Laghman Province

September 17, 2012 - The Cabinet meeting chaired by President Hamid Karzai strongly denounced the NATO airstrike that killed eight women and injured their ten companions in Laghman province.
According to Laghman Governor’s Office, the NATO forces conducted an airstrike around 3:00 last night on the Pashaye dominated mountainous region of Alingar district in Laghman province, as a result, killing eight women who were collecting firewood in the area while injuring their ten companions.
The Cabinet meeting described as unjustifiable the airstrike and termed it explicit breach of the MoU on Afghanization of special operations, which must not recur.
It was agreed to discuss the issue of the NATO airstrike on civilians, in the upcoming national security session so that necessary decisions could be made.
