President Karzai and President Obama Speak via Video Conference

In a video conference on Friday evening with President Karzai, President Barack Obama reiterated his condolences and sympathies to President Karzai on the killing of his brother, Ahmad Wali Karzai, his advisor, Jan Mohammad Khan, Kandahar Mayor Ghulam Haidar Hamidi and other senior officials and notables, who were assassinated by the terrorists.
In the conversation, the US President reaffirmed his commitment to the Afghan-led reconciliation process.
Also, the two Presidents agreed that the strategic partnership talks between the two countries be elevated to a level of National Security Advisors with the first meeting expected in Washington in September.
Other topics of discussion included the transition of security responsibilities to Afghans, regional issues and the reiteration of mutual commitment for a continued fight against terrorism.
