President Karzai Hears Report of Findings on Civilian Deaths at Regular Security Council Meeting

President Hamid Karzai chaired Sunday a regular meeting of national Security Council to discuss security situation and hear report of findings on the civilian deaths caused by a NATO military operation in eastern Afghanistan.
The meeting attended by the senior government officials including the Vice-presidents, Ministers of Defense, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Borders and Tribal Affairs, Anti-narcotics, Head of the NDS, the IDLG and other officials heard reports on the latest security situation in the country and on the findings of the team tasked to investigate the 17 civilian deaths resulted by an operation conducted by NATO in Waigal district of eastern Noorestan province.
Members of the families of the operation victims were also present in the meeting.
The meeting decided that the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the NDS launch further probe in the incident and NATO, represented in the meeting by Commander Allen was also asked to prepare their own report on the incident so a final decision can be made.
