President Karzai Chairs Meeting to Discuss Preps for 2nd Phase of Transition Process

President Hamid Karzai chaired Wednesday a meeting to discuss the preparations underway for the second phase of the transfer of security responsibilities to Afghan forces.
The meeting focused on different dimensions of the process including areas and provinces set for second-phase transition and the prudent measures needed for its successful implementation.
The meeting heard a comprehensive briefing by Dr. Ghani, the chairman of Transition Commission, who said the 2nd phase would cover areas and provinces where Afghan security forces are capable of maintaining security.
Pointing to the success of the first phase, he further laid out measures carefully charted out to ensure a successful completion of the second phase as well.
