President Karzai Strongly Condemns Coalition Air Strike that Killed Children

November 24, 2011 - President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the aerial bombing by the international forces that killed a number of innocent civilians in Zheri district of southern Kandahar province.

Initial reports as stated by the district sub-governor himself indicate that an air strike carried out by the international forces in Siacha village in Zheri district killed seven persons including six children and injured another two young girls.

President Karzai was saddened when he heard the news and designated a team to fully investigate the incident and would then, consistent to the recommendations of the Traditional Loya Jirga, announce the government’s position.

President Karzai expresses his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prays for a rapid recovery of those injured.
