Large Convention Center Financed by China to be built for Afghanistan

April 23, 2012- Abdul Karim Khuram, the President’s Chief of Staff and Xu Feihong, Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan signed a contract agreement to build a large Convention Center capable of hosting national conferences and Jirgas (grand assemblies) in Kabul.

During the signing ceremony held Monday afternoon in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, signed copies of the accord were exchanged between the two signing parties.

The center would be a state-of-the-art convention hub that could accommodate more than 3,000 attendees at a time.

Funded by the Chinese National Bank, the center would host large-scale national conferences and Jirgas in the country.
