President Karzai Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attack on Mawlavi Arsala Rahmani

May 13, 2012- President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the terrorist attack that resulted in the murder of Mawlavi Arsala Rahmani, a knowledgeable religious scholar, member of High Peace Council and Senator in the upper house of Afghanistan’s parliament.
In a terrorist attack, enemies of the people and peace in Afghanistan assassinated Mawlavi Rahmani this morning near Dehbori crossroad in Kabul.
Condemning the cowardly and brutal act of terror, President Karzai said, “The murder of Mawlavi Rahmani is a terrible loss. He was a knowledgeable religious scholar, Mujahed, tribal leader, politician and a great pacifist.”
The President said, enemies of the Afghan people once again proved that they fear peace in Afghanistan and resort to targeting those who seek dignity and prosperity for Afghanistan and are working to ensure peace and welfare in their country.
President Karzai added, “Enemies of Afghanistan must know that every Afghan wants peace and progress in their country and, thus Mawlavi Arsala was not alone in this journey.”
Deeply saddened by the murder of Mawlavi Rahmani, the President strictly instructed the security agencies to find and bring to justice the perpetrators.
President Karzai offers his deepest condolences and sympathies to Senator Arsala Rahmani’s family and relatives.
