President Ghani accepts accreditation of the new EU ambassador to Afghanistan

The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani accepted the credential of the new European Union Head of Delegation to Afghanistan ambassador Pierre Mayaudon, Tuesday morning during a ceremony of honor held in the Presidential Palace.

President Ghani congratulated ambassador Mayaudon on his new mission, wishing him a fruitful tenure. The President appreciated the European Union for their assistance with Afghanistan in different fields of development and the commitments they made in the Brussels and Warsaw Conferences.

Different topics figured in the meeting which mostly revolved around Afghan-EU commercial and economic cooperation, opportunities of exports to and imports from the EU countries, economic development, EU investment in the Afghan loom sector, technical assistance of the European Union in Afghan mining sector and the peace process.

Ambassador Mayaudon expressed delight over commencement of his new mission, reaffirming continued EU assistance with Afghanistan. He said that the European Union is ready to aid Afghanistan in different areas.
