The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received the Special Representative of the European Union Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin and EU delegation to Afghanistan, Tuesday morning, Presidential Palace.
Both sides talked over topics pertaining to conduct of parliamentary elections and the Kabul Process. Strengthening relations between the International Community especially the European Union and Afghanistan also came under discussion.
President Ghani thanked the delegation of the European Union to Afghanistan for their active participation in the Kabul Process Conference which contributed towards its success.
President Ghani expressed his gratitude to the EU delegation for their continued assistance with Afghanistan in different areas such as elections, security, development, health, education and overall support of the Afghan people.
Speaking on behalf of EU delegation to Afghanistan, Ambassador Mellbin said that they are supporting the progress which Afghanistan has made in different domains and are ready for cooperation with Afghanistan in its development.
He said that Afghanistan and the European Union enjoy historical relations, assuring President Ghani of EU’s continued aid with Afghanistan.
President Ghani suggested that such meetings should be organized in the future to bolster up the bilateral relations.
The delegation welcomed President Ghani’s suggestion. They expressed their gratitude to the Afghan Government for taking great care of the security of international diplomats and representations.
The President said that security of the diplomatic community is our priority. He thanked the international organizations, donor community and international partners for their aid and cooperation.
