Arg, Kabul: Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has reviewed the latest annual report of UNAMA titled “Protection of civilians in armed conflicts”.
The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan recognizes protection of civilians and their properties as its essential and primary priorities while conducting military operations. In case the activities of the Security and Defense Forces culminate in causing any damage to the civilians, the case is investigated and necessary judicial and administrative actions are taken.
Attaching special importance to protecting the lives and properties of the people, the President said, “The National Security and Defense Forces have to take maximum care during all military operations in order to protect civilians and their properties. In case the individuals commit neglect, they will be interrogated.”
The President reiterates that contrary to Taliban and other terrorist groups, Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is accountable and responsible for protecting lives and properties of its people.
The Afghan Government holds itself highly committed to observing and adhering to Islamic orders and International Laws during military operations in order to protect civilians and is simultaneously striving to prevent civilian casualties. The Government welcomes the suggestions proposed by UNAMA in this report.
