President Karzai Briefs German Delegation on Parliamentary Elections Aug 24, 2010 President Hamid Karzai met Tuesday with a delegation of German members of Parliament who called on the President in Gul Khana Palace.
The delegation was on an official visit of Afghanistan assigned by the German house of representatives for a first hand assessment of the situation.
President Karzai briefed the MPs on the situation in Afghanistan and the region as well as the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary polls in the country.
Another issue of discussion in the meeting was Afghanistan’s plan for peace and reintegration as the priority for the government of Afghanistan.
President Karzai Bids Farewell NATO German Allied Force Commander Aug 24, 2010 President Hamid Karzai said goodbye to Gen. Egon Ramms, whose duty ended as head of the Allied Joint Force Command within NATO organization.
The President thanked Gen. Ramms for his services that helped Afghanistan mission and wished him success with his future career.
The meeting also focused on issues related to NATO’s expanded cooperation with Afghanistan on the war on terror.
Turkmenistan to gift 1000 metric tons of wheat flour to Afghanistan Aug 23, 2010 Turkmenistan announced that it will provide 1000 metric tons of wheat flour as a gift to the people of Afghanistan. Afghanistan Announces $ 1 million Aid to Flood-affected in Pakistan Aug 10, 2010 President Hamid Karzai signed a decree that instructs the government to provide one million dollars in humanitarian assistance to Pakistan for the victims of the recent heavy floods that hit the country.
The new aid is in addition to the previous contributions Afghanistan has made to help alleviate the suffering of the affected people in the neighboring country.
Afghanistan already sent several helicopters with medical team and necessary medication to take part in rescuing the lives of those hit by monsoon floods.
