President Ghani attends Enthronement Ceremony of Emperor Naruhito

President Ashraf Ghani and the First Lady participated at the enthronement ceremony of the new emperor of Japan Naruhito at Tokyo’s imperial Palace.

Emperor Naruhito and his spouse, Empress Masako in regal attire entered the Imperial Palace. Emperor Naruhito was presented the three sacred treasures of Japan namely a replica sword, a necklace of comma-shaped stone beads and the mirror, and officially ascended the throne as the new Japanese Emperor.

Japan has hosted momentous international conferences for Afghanistan and its effective, efficient and people-centered assistance to Afghanistan have been multifaceted in governance and development areas, which has led to great changes in the Afghan community.

Some 2000 people including world leaders and other dignitaries from more than 170 countries attended the tradition-filled ceremony.
