Arg—President Ashraf Ghani said today during a ceremony held in Arg to celebrate International Women’s Day that no one can stop Afghan women from accomplishing greatness.
He said that women’s biggest challenge is poverty; therefore eradicating poverty among women should be a subject of our national discourse.
“Women will be living in deprivation unless we work to liberate them from the shackles of poverty,” said President Ghani. “Today we are immensely proud that heads of our electoral institutions are women; our ambassadors in our largest partner country [U.S.] and U.N. are women, and we have woman ministers and judges.”
He also said that the government will provide grounds for women to receive technical education that has better job market. President Ghani thanked Afghanistan’s international partners for promoting women in Afghanistan, and reiterated that Afghans can only achieve big things, such as peace, when they stand united.
