President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC).
At the outset, the meeting heard a briefing over the progress and measures underway for the release of the 31 civilians held hostage by the enemies of the people. The meeting was also attended by seven representatives of the families of hostages.
The NSC stressed that protection of the of 31 Afghan lives is the government’s priority, and assured their families that the Nation Unity Government will commit all resources to ensure safe release of the abducted people. The NSC asked the concerned families to exercise restraint and cooperate with the government in this regard.
Later, the security sectors briefed the meeting in detail on Badakhshan incident with proper decisions taken.
The meeting was also briefed by Chief of the Defense Staff about the achievements of Zulfiqar operation in Helmand province.
The NSC meeting described the operation as one of the most successful ones conducted with a good coordination among ANSF, and termed it as the sign of improved capabilities and bravery of Afghan security forces.
Praising the hard work and endeavors of national security forces, the NSC meeting instructed security agencies to decorate all uniformed personnel who participated in the operation, and extend all possible support to the families of those martyred.
The meeting continued with reports on the overall security situation in the country.
