President Ghani chairs National Security Council meeting

Chaired by the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the National Security Council held its weekly meeting this afternoon in Arg.

Condemning yesterday’s attack on Baqer-uloom  mosque in the strongest terms, the National Security Council prayed for the martyrs, condoled with their families, and prayed to Allah to grant full health to those wounded in the incident.

National Security Council called this unforgivable act, the work of the enemies of Afghanistan, a crime against humanity as well as an attempt to sow discord and division among the people of Afghansitan.

In this meeting, Ministers of Security and Defense sectors briefed the participants on the security situation in the country, especially in Helmand, Nangarhar, Uruzgan, Farah, Kandahar, Ghor, Faryab, Badghis and Kunduz provinces.

Commending the sacrifices and courage of the Security and Defense Forces, the National Security Council reviewed security threats at the national level and issued necessary instructions to the concerned entities to eliminate the enemies and prevent expansion of threats.

Reviewing violations by the Pakistani Army along the hypothetical Durand Line, the National Security Council deemed any kind of violation in those areas concerning and standing in contradiction with International Laws and Norms, and issued necessary instructions to the pertinent entities.

At the end of the meeting, the plan for reforming Local Police Forces was thoroughly reviewed. Thanking the Ministry of Interior Affairs for the considerable progress in the reform process of the local police, the Ministry was directed to finalize reform process of the local police forces on the basis of the approved procedures.#
