President Ashraf Ghani cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the newly-constructed obstetrics and gynecology department today morning at Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan military hospital to ensure health service delivery to the families of the Afghan Defense and Security forces fighting on the front lines.
Abdul Razaq Siawash, commander of health division at Office of the General Staff of Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan hospital stressed that such establishments will assure the Afghan Defense forces that their families receive proper medical treatment and care, adding that the Italian-government-funded project has been implemented by a Turkish company, at the cost of 4.5 million dollars.
Maj. General Siawash said the ward is fitted out with modern facilities and equipment and expressed gratitude for naming it after Suhaila Sediq, who is one of the eminent female generals and surgeons in the region and spent forty years of her life providing services for ANA soldiers and officers inflicted with wounds.
Deputy Minister of Public Health Mamosi Ziwar praised the president for his persistent endeavors to improve women’s status in the country and informed the audience of the recent progresses on health service delivery to the women in rural and remote areas as well as building and reconstruction of hospitals and clinics across the country.
Gen. Bismillah Waziri, the chief of army staff lauded the Afghan Defense and security forces for tightening the security during the presidential election and thwarting the enemy’s heinous plots, aimed at disrupting the election.
President Ashraf Ghani said, “Afghanistan Defense and Security forces are sturdily guarding the country.”
“I am proud of my valiant defense and security forces that did a phenomenal job and extraordinarily coped with four waves of attacks within one year,” said the president while calling the forces volunteer sons of the homeland.
The president described the presidential election as an epic event and vowed the Afghan public and around 75,000 forces for demonstrating an act of heroism. He stressed that no complaint has been registered against the Afghan forces, neither during the presidential polls nor parliamentary elections.
The president said the Defense and Security forces safeguard the Afghan constitution, national values and sovereignty and praised them for remaining impartial during the elections.
President Ghani congratulated the Afghan nation on a successful presidential election and said, “Now is the time to have patience and according to the law, the electoral bodies are legally responsible and authorized to tally the votes and announce the outcome to the Afghan public.”
He underlined that “republic” will not be questioned and it is the people’s determination and will that enable the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to continue to exist.
The president said Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan hospital was once known as the symbol of corruption and negligence towards the patients while it is now exemplified as an entity that deliver standard services and earned the trust of people and defense forces.
He thanked the government of Italy for helping Afghanistan in translating the concept into reality, and vowed that measures are in place for construction of a traumatic disease medical facility for Afghan forces.
President Ashraf Ghani described Suhaila Sediq a true patriotic figure and wished her speedy recovery, adding that naming the obstetrics and gynecology department after her is a small token of appreciation that cannot match the level of service she provided to the country.
