President Ashraf Ghani on the second day of his visit to Kandahar met with Ulema of Kandahar.
They acknowledged the president for holding the International Symposium on Imam Abu Hanifa, where Ulema from Islamic Countries participated as well, calling it a great stride to bolster unity among Muslims.
They discussed their wants and recommendations in various areas including construction of madrasas, mosques and council on Fatwa, providing employment opportunities for Ulema, further recruitments at Haj and Religious Affairs Department of Kandahar.
President Ghani thanked the Ulema for their endeavors and said beside efforts for construction of mosques across the country, an Islamic Education Center – Darul Uloom – will be built in Kandahar about which he had issued necessary directives to the Kandahar governor.
He added that efforts have been made to establish a central council of Fatwa in Kandahar.
The President added that arrangements have been made to establish a central council of Fatwa, but this requires more collaboration.
