The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and vice-president of the United States of America Mike Pence had a telephonic conversation Tuesday evening.
They discussed security situation of Afghanistan and the region, deeming the recent U.S. strategy a useful instrument for improving security in the region.
The two leaders conversed about good governance, reforms, political engagement and preparations for the upcoming elections. Peacefully handling the change taking place in local administration of Balkh province also figured their conversation.
President Ghani thanked the U.S. Government for their cooperation and said, “Reforms and engagement are a part of the promises we have pledged to our people. The Government has taken effective measures in this regard.”
