The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired a meeting to discuss issues concerning land distribution to the refugees and the standards and models of refugees’ townships, Monday morning, Presidential Palace.
The meeting was attended by minister of refugees and returnees Said Alami Balkhi, acting minister of economy Mustafa Mastor and chief advisor to the President on refugee affairs Khayber Farahi.
The President underscored transparency and efficiency in the ministry of refugees and returnees. He said, “Previously, there were problems in distribution of land for the townships, so we should have a clear policy for distributing land to the returnees.”
President Ghani also stressed on creating banks for land and returnees. He added, “With the creation of these data banks we can sort out the eligible people to whom land should be distributed on the basis of specific benchmarks and classification.”
President Ghani emphasized ensuring transparency in land distribution. He said, “Corruption should be tackled in these organizations.”
The high council of refugees is expected to provide a comprehensive report in the coming session.
