Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met with a number of Representatives from Khost, Paktia, Paktika, and Logar provinces.
In the meeting, which was held in the Presidential Palace, the political and security situation in these provinces was discussed.
President Ghani said that the current problems and challenges are the product of the last three decades of war in the country. “the national unity government could not act fast enough on some fronts because it takes time to deal with problems that we have inherited.”
President Ghani said the world was on its way out of the country because there were fears that some of the provinces would be falling into the hands of the enemy. The situation stands differently today and there are no such fears today.
President Ghani added that the form of the threat has changed and I have dedicated a bulk of my time to security issues and we aim to stand firm against terrorism.
The President said that we are working to build a consensus in the region, for which, I will be travelling to Iran and India in the near future.
President Ghani further added that from now on, our full attention will be on economic and good governance.
