President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received credential of the new Sri Lankan ambassador for Afghanistan Gagan Pulasthi Bulathsinghala, during a ceremonial honor in the Presidential Palace, Tuesday morning.
While submitting his credential, Ambassador Gagan conveyed the greetings of Sri Lankan President and Prime Minister to President Ghani. Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahudin Rabbani was also present in this meeting.
Both sides discussed expansion of bilateral ties in different areas.
Pointing to aerial corridor with India, President Ghani said that Afghanistan intends to establish the same aerial corridor with Sri Lank which will boost trade between the two countries.
President Ghani said that Sri Lanka has developed institutions for training the nurses and has copious experiences in agriculture sector; therefore Afghanistan is interested in benefiting from those experiences.
Later, Ambassador Gagan expressed happiness over start of his mission in Afghanistan, stating that he will strive to expand Afghan-Sri Lankan relations.
