The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received the defense minister of the Kingdom of Norway Frank Bakke-Jensen, Monday evening, Presidential Palace.
The two sides discussed ways of strengthening Afghan-Norwegian relations and tackling terrorism. Issues of regional importance also figured their meeting.
President Ghani thanked the Norwegian Government for having provided assistance and support to Afghanistan in different development realms particularly reinforcing the Afghan National Defense, Security and Special Forces. On Norwegian cooperation, the President said, “The assistance has proven effective for Afghanistan and we welcome the continuation of such assistance.”
Minister Jensen offered his condolences to President Ghani over the recent terror attacks which rocked Afghanistan. He said that the Kingdom of Norway will continue supporting, training and equipping the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in the framework of the Resolute Support Mission.
