President Ghani receives U.S. Deputy Foreign Secretary of State

The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani received the deputy foreign secretary of the United States of America John J. Sullivan, Tuesday evening, Presidential Palace.

Secretary Sullivan expressed his condolences to the Afghan Government and people over the recent terror attacks which left a large number of our innocent compatriots martyred and wounded. He remarked that terrorism is the enemy of the entire humanity and commended the genuine struggles of the Afghan Government in rooting up this phenomenon.

President Ghani appreciated Secretary Sullivan’s visit to Afghanistan in such ticklish moments and thanked the Government and people of the United States for their sympathies.

The two sides talked over reforms, economic development, good governance, counter-terrorism efforts and preparations for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections. They also admired the progress achieved in the execution of the Afghan-U.S. cooperation compact and praised the efforts of the joint committee for the implementation of this compact.

Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah also appreciated Secretary Sullivan’s visit to Afghanistan and thanked the U.S. for their continued cooperation and support.
