President Ashraf Ghani chaired the government leadership meeting today morning at the Presidential Palace and discussed the Mobile Money payment system and Islam Qala fire damages.
Mr. Ajmal Ahmadi, acting governor of Da Afghanistan Bank in the first portion of the meeting said that 90% work of the electronic payment system has been completed. Public and private Banks, Finance Ministry and around 4000 markets have joined the electronic payment system, meanwhile the remaining firms and agencies are believed to join soon. ANDSF salaries will be as well paid electronically, he added.
President Ghani welcomed the formation of this system and termed it a significant system in the fight against corruption. “All those who have put efforts in the formation of this system will be appreciated” added the President.
In the second portion of the meeting, officials of the Finance, Trade, and Industry ministries presented their report and recommendations over the damages caused by the fire in Islam Qala customs. They called for further investigation to probe the incident and said immediate steps should be taken to restore the establishments.
President Ghani expressed sadness over the financial damages caused by the fire in the Islam-Qala district and underlined that a delegation under the supervision of First VP Mr. Saleh should comprehensively probe the incident and share its findings with the office of the President.
President Ghani stressed the usage of the electronic payment system in the customs and said after the country’s customs assessment, immediate measures should be taken to avoid similar incidents in the future.
