President Ashraf Ghani chaired the Commander-in-Chief meeting this morning at the Presidential Palace and reviewed the general security status of the country.
President Ghani strongly denounced the terrorist attack that targeted the convoy of First Vice-President Saleh and ordered a comprehensive investigation into the attack to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In the meeting, the Defense and Security authorities presented their reports highlighting the general security condition in the country, particularly in provinces of Ghazni, Balkh and Logar, and briefed the president on their measures and plans for preventing the threats.
The first and second vice presidents praised the bravery and capability of the Defense and Security forces and said the international community resolutely support the forces.
President Ashraf Ghani underscored that the sacrifices and dedication of the Afghan Defense and Security forces set the stage for start of peace talks between the negotiating delegation of the government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban group.
President Ghani added the government would move the process with wisdom and determination to end the meaningless war and bring a sustainable and dignified peace, where rights of every Afghan and gains of the past nineteen years are protected.
The president said the government’s stance on peace is principled and clear and added that the negotiating delegation of the GoIRA is representing a united Afghanistan to bring a sustainable and dignified peace to the country.
The commander-in-chief also instructed the Defense and Security authorities to ramp up their efforts to secure the highways and underlined that those personnel who create problems for people should be terminated.
