President Ghani: It is our commitment for change and reform that the people of Afghanistan, gradually but systematically, become owners of their country

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met today with a number of elders, influential figures and MPs of Balkh province.

President Ghani said, “It is our commitment for change and reform that the people of Afghanistan, gradually but systematically, become owners of their country”.

Pointing to the need for peace and stability in the country, President Ghani said, “The national unity government is committed to end insecurity in northern region of the country so that the government can attract national and international funds for implementation of major economic projects there”.

President Ghani said Afghanistan has abundant waters, mineral resources and great location.

“We can utilize our mineral resources to change our country from an impoverished nation to a wealthy one”, added the President.

Stressing on the need for women’s contribution in the government,  President Ghani said that participation of women  in the national unity government is a key part of his programs.

President Ghani also asked for full cooperation of the Afghan nation, particularly the people of the northern provinces in further strengthening security in the country.

Addressing the President, Balkh elders said Afghans believe in the implementation of his change and reform programs and strongly support it. They added, “The people of Afghanistan expect you to serve, fulfill the promises you have made for justice, and to equally enforce laws on all in the country”.
