President Ashraf Ghani met with Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the UK State Minister for South Asia and Commonwealth today on the sideline of the International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity; Challenges and Opportunities” in Tashkent of Uzbekistan.
In this meeting, Lord Ahmad lauded President Ghani’s efforts for Afghan women’s education and progress and said UK as Afghanistan’s strategic partner is willing to continue its cooperation with Afghanistan in support for the Afghan National Defense and Security forces, Afghan women and in development areas.
President Ghani said that providing educational opportunities for the children of displaced Afghan families and improving their financial status is among the government’s priorities in order to help them stand on their feet. He added that the digitalization process should be nationwide and accelerated.
“We want peace and the Taliban must embrace the call of the Afghan people for a dignified and enduring peace rather than resort to war and violence,” said the President while underscoring that Pakistan should make sincere efforts in this area.
President Ghani referred to the capabilities and valour of the Afghan Defense and Security forces and said we will take control of all affairs of Afghanistan after withdrawal of the international forces.
