Presidential Palace, Kabul: President Ashraf Ghani deeply saddened over the loss of lives and property and destruction of residential houses, shops and highways as a result of flash floods in Parwan and a number of other provinces.
President Ghani instructed Afghanistan Disaster Management Authority, ministries of Public Health, Public Works, Rural Rehabilitation and Development and other relevant offices to mobilize available resources to deliver emergency items to the affected and provide treatment for the wounded.
The president calls on the national traders, investors and emergency relief agencies to muster a sense of urgency at this tragic time and reach out to the vulnerable families and fellow citizens affected by the floods and provide them with necessary assistance.
In addition to Parwan province, flash floods and heavy rainfall have washed away some parts of highways connecting the capital to Jalalabad and Gardiz and caused damages in Kapisa, Panjshir, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Nuristan and Jalalabad provinces.
The president expressed his deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones as a result of the disasters and wish them strength and patience at this difficult moment.
