Presidential Palace, Kabul: President Ashraf Ghani condemned in the strongest terms the assassination of Mohammad Yousuf Rasheed, the Executive Director of Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan that took place this morning in 7th district of Kabul.
President Ghani called the assassination a cowardly act of terror and said Mohammad Yousuf Rasheed was an eminent personality who made remarkable services for institutionalization of democratic values and transparency of electoral processes. The President ordered the relevant authorities to adopt immediate measures to bring the assassins to justice.
President Ashraf Ghani also denounced the escalation of violence and increased attacks on public facilities and institutions by terrorist groups and said such offenses and crimes cannot deter the modern Afghan nation and its generations from preserving their gains that have been achieved as a result of immense sacrifices.
He added, the people of Afghanistan stand with their heroes at the ranks of Defense and Security forces and continue to guard their homeland and strive for its development and prosperity.
President Ghani offered his deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Mohammad Yousuf Rasheed and to the Afghan nation and prayed for his soul.
