Press Release over roadside bomb blast in Kandahar

Presidential Palace, Kabul: A Taliban’s roadside bomb left a number of our compatriots including women and children dead and wounded after a civilian vehicle struck by the planted mine in Zalkhan area of Panjwayi district in Kandahar province.

President Ghani strongly condemned this act of terror and said as the negotiating delegation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban are on the verge of starting direct peace talks, the group must cease acts of violence particularly planting roadside bombs that is a leading cause of civilian casualties.

“The Taliban must embrace the call of the government and the Consultative Loya Jirga for ending the violence in order to set the stage for a dignified and sustainable peace in the country,” added the president.

The president offered his deepest sympathies to the families of victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries.
